Absolutely incredible game, although a little short. Graphics, sound design, and animations are out of this world. I have never seen a game as polished as this one, and the fact that a single person made this blows my mind.
If you read through some of the creator's responses, it's clear that he's extremely skilled at all aspects of game design, and very passionate about this game. The game has not been abandoned although it may be a while till Chapter 2 comes out (based on his responses). That being said, the game only takes a little over an hour to complete, but that hour is one of the best I've ever had in videogame history.
P.S. I can see the inspiration from SOMA (my favorite game of all time), and I love it!
i really wanted to play this game but i use controller and when i push forward the controller that you have in the game keeps popping up and theres no way to remap the controls i dont have the best desk for keyboard and mouse is why i use a controller mainly.
This game look's absolutely astonishing and keeps you on the edge of your seat the play and feel reminds me of the new Resident Evil Games. if Capcom was smart, they would hire AdamDubiGames to bring another level horror to their company
I made this gameplay about 6 months ago but this game was AMAZING I even was streaming it and the dev stopped by! Subscribe to my channel if you like to watch all the best horror gameplays https://youtu.be/1QN_lkAOo88
Foremost, this game is looking "Very" promising. Question - As I play the game, the controller keeps popping on screen, even after I chose to hide it. The controller blocks most of the game view area. Is there a way to keep the controller hidden, until I do need to use it? Apology, up front, if I'm asking this question on the wrong forum. Thanks
Do we have a better time frame for release of episode 2? I am eagerly awaiting your response! I love the demo and am very much looking forward to episode 2! keep up the good work!
Thank you for the feedback and for the kind words! Truly means a lot!
I'm working simultaneously on all of the episodes of CHORDOSIS almost daily. I'm still hesitant to say a proper release date, but it's coming together nicely.
Random status on EP2: Currently I'm working on the 17 language localization and of how I implement it. This means most of my writing is finally kinda finished I guess :D and I'm really happy about it! It was not the cheapest, but I worked together with a professional AAA localization company. (Bad translation is worse than having none, and same applies to voice acting in my opinion.)
So, in this week I've worked mostly outside the Unreal Engine doing 2D stuff in GIMP and Blender with localized 2Dtextures (zoom in to a newspaper and it's naively in Chinese for you or something) (yes, I really do hate UI text walls, and text-based storytellng should be part of the game world) so there will be a lot of ingame 3d objects in your own language.
In this week I made a lot of progress with my sound design as well! My carpenter neighbor was on a holiday this week so it was finally kinda quiet, and I was able to record a lot again. Just like the fist episode, the second one will have a really "go nuts" ending with insane sound design.
I made this weird contraption in my basement/workshop for the sound of that segment (mostly). I used some metal wires on a large hard iron plate, tensioned with clamps on wood, and it has barbed wire loosely all over on it. I just love making my own instruments, but they usually looks awful, and something out of a SAW movie lol.
But this one sounds really really cool. Sounds really screechy and eerie! I did some fields on it as well, and it works great with my impulse responses. In Monday, I just cant wait to finally implement it as the sound of well... .... :D I'm not gonna spoil it ....
but I'll probably spend an another week on this, to finally change out my placeholders of the ending of EP2.
Gamedev takes a lot of time, effort. I truly believe I have something in my hands here. CHORDOSIS quickly became my job, and a huge part of my life. I'll do my best to make it fun, and to give goosebumps.
Hey @AdamDubiGames, thank you so much for the update!!! I was beginning to get a little worried as I hadn't found where you might be active, and Chordosis is THE best India horror game I've ever experienced so far - and I have such high hopes for it.
Very happy to see you hear commenting, and it looks like you've been working hard - so thank you for that as well.
Nevermind the haters out there, this game is so unbelievably put together, and as solo project is bafflingly impressive; and as budding solo dev myself it is so very *INSPIRING*. :)
Keep up the great work, and have a wonderful day!!!
Hello, I saw this game a long time ago and added it to my backlog with a note "play once all episodes are out", now I am seeing it's been over a year, and the last Dev log on here is from September 2024. Makes me wonder if the future episodes are still coming. Is there some timeframe/roadmap for the future releases? Is it going to be many more years then for this game to be completed?
His Patreon is dead and questions about some news are not answered. Only some post with payment question was answered a month ago. Even on email he isn't responding. Sorry guys, but it looks like another abandoned project. If only he had at least started a Discord server where he could be mildly active once every day or two, but it's just suspicious that there's no place where it could be much more active... Nope... email is a far-fetched thing, and communicating through comments on itch.io is really kinda bad solution... o.o
Hey, CHORDOSIS is not abandoned! Working on this game takes a lot of time and effort, and I'm completely alone with it.
I'm really sorry that I can't quickly reply to every single one of you. I wish I could afford proper community management with a discord server and such, but I have to keep this game under my scope.
I'm literally just a dude working on this from my bedroom for the past 4 years or so.
My Patreon was actually never live, but I left the link there in the case I'd have the time to give back to the community with cut-out segments from CHORDOSIS as standalone little games. (there's a lot of cut content, and I still planning to release them) I was never published it cause I'd hate to see people supporting me Patreon, while I'm not a 100% sure I could give back with professional content. Developing the main game takes basically all of my time.
My game is not for everyone I'm completely okay with that, and I created and designed the whole thing with the mindset of it. If you didn't liked the first episode, and if you like to have a refund then please feel free to reach out to itch support, they're amazing, and I'm sure your get your money back.
AdamDubiGames: For a moment I thought you weren't going to answer me, Adam, and I got carried away. I'm very sorry. And when I read your reply, I wondered why you were talking about money, and then I realized that in the heat of the moment I wrote that I wanted my money back... which I don't. Anyway, I can't tell you how pleased I was when you replied! And I understand about the Discord thing, but I still have a suggestion for you! How about writing at least once or twice a month at the end of an article about your game on itch.io that you're alive and well and still working on the project? And maybe even estimate in percentages how the next release is going... O.o For example: 84% of next update is done
Sorry again, but I'm glad I kinda made you write back... :'D Take your time with this game and take all the time you need, and you're still a hero to me when you're the only one working on the whole thing! But please make yourself known from time to time so people don't lose faith in this amazing project of yours! <3
That's a lot of extra work for a solo guy doing all the work.
If you need someone to help with anything @AdamDubiGames let me know. I've done a couple levels for some early VR titles, have experience in Blender, UE4-5, Unity (bleh) and a bunch of other skills - and be more than willing to help to whatever ability I am able. :)
Hey, I released CHORDOSIS about 6 months ago, simultaneously with the devlogs to show people how the development of my game is taking a shape, and 6 months goes by quickly as a solo dev.
I've never shared any official release dates for the next chapters, because it simply just takes a lot of time and effort to create a relatively high fidelity game like CHORDOSIS from my bedroom.
I worked on this game almost daily for the past 4 years, and I will never give up on it. Unlike a lot of fellow indie devs, who has a lot of projects come and go and never to be realized, I only have one project, and it's this one, CHORDOSIS.
The second episode was playable before the first one, but as I got more and more and more support, I went back to the drawingboard and reimagined, redone a lot of it for the sake of providing a quality experience.
I'm still very very hesitant about an official roadmap (with release dates) for my game. I will release it as soon as I feel like it's ready, and when I feel like I could provide the absolutely best I could do with it.
As I'm working on all the episodes simultaneously, I'm testing and replaying the whole game over and over again almost every night.
I'm really thankful for all the feedback, and I'm really sorry about the waiting, and I truly wish that I could reply to every single one of you. I'm doing my best to give and release a bug-free, intense, atmospheric and immerse game just like episode one was.
CHORDOSIS quickly became not just my job, but a huge part of my life. Sometimes I think, what if?... cause I could just release the whole thing in a couple of weeks from now, but I'm not gonna give up, nor give in. There's a lot of work ahead of me, and I'm in love with every second of it. And I know, that in the end of the day, I'll have something that's more than a game, I'll have something that I can be proud of.
I love your game but I have some suggestions. Resolution settings are unnecessary complicated. Just put all possible resolutions in a drop down menu. Also text (press any key) is too small on 2K monitor (2560x1440). Also is it possible to test episode two in early stage? And what is the exclusive content for Founders edition? Something that is available now or its a plan for the future? Thanks for answers.
First of all, congratulations on the project. Nagyon vagany lett! I have so many questions. How long did it take you to make this? Are you a solo developer? Are you working in the industry? Did you have modelers working with you on this or was this a solo effort on your end? Sorry for the multitude of questions, but as a solo developer myself I am just super curios. I am extremely happy that the audience finally found you and wish you the best!
Great game. Love that opening, seeing the 3 lights move reminded me of something out of the X files. Will you be needing any voice actors for future titles?
Hey, sry to write this here but i thought your demo was AMAZING so i went to purchase your game Was met with error codes but was still charged twice and did not receive the game. Help?
Simply amazing. I bought the full version and made an account here just to come and say that was bloody amazing. One of the best looking PC games I've ever seen on my 3080ti and it was made by one person. Unbelievable. I'm left wanting more and a full size AAA game with deep single player campaign one day would be epic!!
Hey Adam Dubi, do you have a link to the music you've used in the slideshow room? Those tunes are amazing, I was vibing so hard to them xD Did you make them yourself?
Also wanted to say, I have left a review but wanted to mention it here in the comments. Thank you so much for this game, the atmosphere and sound design is the best I've ever felt in a game before. Honestly I haven't experienced atmosphere like this since S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl and that game is in my top 6 of all time. You should be seriously proud of yourself and to even offer 30% off on this game, you're doing the lords work xD Well done Adam!
I'm having issues with the graphics settings being persistent. Setting to high which is all 0.7 or medium which is all 0.4 but when I go back in the sliders are all in different places. Only setting to ultra will the sliders stay at 1. How comes?
Seems that there are certain values that the game will pick for you and depending how close you are on the slider to that value it'll set it to a higher or lower "pre-sets", bit odd.
Also I'm having serious framerate issues. Some parts of the game are running are 110 FPS and others are running at 29FPS. Most of the game jumps around from 55 - 80FPS. Also there are segments like at the garage when you collect the fuel cannister that sometimes it'll have a stutter and drop to 15 - 20FPS and won't go back up, saving the game somehow stops it, very odd.
Great game but the optimisation of the graphics is a big issue. I'm also noticing strange light flashing artefacts when looking at the light sources or looking at the console when running the game in DLSS balanced or performance. Goes away when put into quality but the game runs really terribly. I'm using a 2060 RTX card with an i5 9600k and 16GB of RAM so I wouldn't think this would be an issue given the stated recommended specs.
Also when you get to the towers with the orange lights if the shadows aren't set to 1 the lights look blurry, have lines in them and looks as if they are made of squares. Wouldn't be so bad if you could adjust the slider but it's either 0, 0.5 or 1. The game won't let you set shadows or any other graphics setting to anything else other than it's predetermined pre-sets. Well it will but as soon as you leave the menu and go back into it, it's been set to its closest value pre-set as mentioned above in my first paragraph.
very cool game so far. The atmosphere is incredible, the sound design is top tier, and the environments are amazing. Loved the easter egg, and the second episode can't come soon enough!
I did experience a weird bug with the first cart that gives you an item. My frame rate got super low as I entered the room before you drop down into the area where you call the cart, so P saved and quit right after I hit the button. This caused the cart not to show the inventory and I couldn't grab the item when I loaded my save. Caused me to go on a wild detour looking for the item I needed. I decided to start a new file and everything worked fine after that. Just letting you know about an extreme outlier thing I encountered, but still an awesome game from a solo dev.
first I played and finished the demo, it was pretty short but intriguing. Then I uninstalled the demo and downloaded the founder edition that I just purchased. I ran the game and instinctively clicked on "continue", I was instantly greeted wit the most annoying puzzle. I don't like starting a game trapped in a room or a corridor with a puzzle to solve to exit.
But I still didn't realize, I had to actually click on "new game" in the main menu to enjoy the founder's edition from the start. So I eventually gave up the puzzle and started a new game.
Looks promising, but the car's steering wheel is in bad need of centering. This bothered me also in the demo. And now I kinda dread t to think that I will still have to solve that corridor puzzle at some point in the game.
Other than that the atmosphere is TOP NOTCH, and the foliage is so realistic and detailed! The game as a whole is a work of incredible quality and I love it.
Dude, I just want to congratulate you. Good fucking job. Extremely good atmosphere, eargasm audio, what a sight for sore eyes this game is. Cannot wait for part 2. Hopefully it's almost done. Keep up the great work!
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but with a ryzen 5 5600g, 16gb ram and an RTX 2060 on medium / dlss balanced I can barely hit 70 fps and I think that I should have a better performance at least at medium with dlss
how? It’s literally one person making this game. Lol. I bet you’re completely fine with AAA games taking 7 years to develop, only to come out broken, at $70, with day one microtransactions/DLC - yet you’ll criticize a SEVEN dollar game made by one person taking 6 months. Gtfo.
Graphics are absolutely amazing, the tension, the atmosphere, the suspense, it is all there, story is brilliantly told. Only thing, I would also vote for getting rid of entirely or changing the enemy creature from the sneak peek into the next episode. As one of the early commenters already said, the Lost-like smoke monster and the lights themselves retain the mystery and I think it is better to keep it that way. Also when all the people were floating at the end of episode one, I think no creature is needed at all in the center, just the light and the floating people seem creepy enough, also keep more of the mystery, not reveal what is causing it. Kudos for your work, unbelieavble that one man could pull this off, keep up the work, this is absolutely just amazing!
I am not going to lie, this has been the best cosmic alien horror game I have ever played, I am so ready for Episode II when it releases and you bet I will be one of the first to hop onto the bandwagon for it. Please Adam, keep up the great work. you have flabbergasted me with this game 💚
Watched Vinesauce play this months back but just got round to playing it myself. Probably the most atmospheric horror games I've ever played. The visual polish and Annihilation-esque sound design are phenomenal. The only criticisms I have are:
- That the animation was very stiff and rudimentary at times (the deer, the guy's fingers, the aliens, especially the giant one doing a static pose in the light at the end) and as brief as they were, when the visuals are so realistic, they kinda take you out of it.
- No HDR support. I forced it via the usual Unreal ini tweak and it worked almost perfectly but the screen space shaders don't look right (noise, lens flare and bloom are all way too strong). Would be nice to have official support because this game's lighting is perfect for it.
- The aliens come off as kinda goofy and generic, juxtaposed against the thick and mysterious atmosphere. Something more creative (as in Annihilation, Arrival, etc.) would be more interesting. The Lost smoke monster thing was more interesting than the actual aliens.
But the atmosphere was so good that as long as you can keep it up, I will continue to play for that alone.

I’m foaming at the mouth and scratching my neck for Episode 2
Really enjoying this game. Wonder if it would be possible to get VR support. That would be amazing.
I IMPATIENTLY await the next episode for this dude, love from Sapphire Lotus!

Chordosis changed my life
so, another fraud. It's sad but outside steam is a rule.
I think this is a solo dev.
How is it a 'fraud'? It's a single SOLO dev, and things take time - also, you don't know what has been going on in their life, right?
be calm and try to read the comments before mine, till 2 months ago this "project" seemed abandoned. RIGHT?
Calling it a fraud and getting upset, shouting and telling me to be calm all at the same time; you sound confused lol.
He's not wrong.
Seems so... I haven't heard back after paying $10 extra to have my name added.
It's a solo dev and the game is worth the money paid.

Absolutely top-tier work sir; if there is any way I can help, let me know!!!

Just letting you know about an extreme outlier thing I encountered, but still an awesome game from a solo dev.
can't wait for more!
first I played and finished the demo, it was pretty short but intriguing.
What an incredible prologue to a very promising game! So looking forward to streaming the second episode for my community <3
Dude, I just want to congratulate you. Good fucking job. Extremely good atmosphere, eargasm audio, what a sight for sore eyes this game is. Cannot wait for part 2. Hopefully it's almost done. Keep up the great work!
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but with a ryzen 5 5600g, 16gb ram and an RTX 2060 on medium / dlss balanced I can barely hit 70 fps and I think that I should have a better performance at least at medium with dlss
upcoming chapters are going to be free for those who purchase the founders edition now? or will it be a separated purchase?
Hey, Absolutely not!
All the upcoming episodes will be just a free update for everyone who owns the CHORDOSIS - FOUNDERS EDITION.
Edit: so far as I'm testing stuff out, it seems like it's gonna be a 2gig update, but it"s really hard to keep my memory footprint relatively low.
cool 😎✨ take your time buddy, you can't hurry art.
Thank you! :)
Any updates on Part 2?
6 months waiting for "90% finished" part 2 is a bit suspect
how? It’s literally one person making this game. Lol. I bet you’re completely fine with AAA games taking 7 years to develop, only to come out broken, at $70, with day one microtransactions/DLC - yet you’ll criticize a SEVEN dollar game made by one person taking 6 months. Gtfo.
This game is fucking amazing.
If you're not 100% sure about buying then please just watch the intro to my YouTube video.
the sound 🤤
Thank you!!! <3
When will the game be available on Steam ?
So how far in should I expect the aliens to appear?
